Energy Michigan energy to stimulate economic development. We’ re trying to attract companies by offering not only natural gas, but carbon capture facilities they could plug into. We’ ve got 2200 miles of pipeline infrastructure we’ re trying to use as a grid for new industry to harness clean energy, bring in much needed investment and create more jobs.” Jim adds:“ Over the past two years, our CCUS and RNG construction projects have generated over 50,000 man-hours of work for our contractors and their highly skilled laborers.”
A promising combination
For 2026 and beyond, Riverside’ s priorities include working with commercial and industrial companies to bring new gas power generation, while using gas to provide carbon capture services to others.“ We’ re talking to companies that are producing several million tons per annum of CO₂ emissions in mid to northern Michigan,” Rob and Jim conclude.“ In the near term, we plan to add two further Antrim CO₂ treating facilities to our capture and geologic storage system. That’ s surprisingly complex because of the distance and maneuvering of both the CO₂ and the natural gas by pipeline. We also have more RNG targets on the horizon for development.”
By combining conventional natural gas production with state-of-the-art carbon capture, along with RNG projects, respect for communities, and a healthy economy, Riverside is demonstrating a viable path forward for traditional energy companies looking to embrace the clean energy transition. ■
